Grant Description: Invest in public transportation by purchasing new 40-foot low-floor diesel buses, articulated buses, making renovations to Regional Transit Service's campus and the design and installation of a Diesel Emissions Fluid storage and dispensing system.

Project Description: This grant has allowed RGRTA to fund four projects. The initial engineering and design work of a site improvement project is progressing through initial design and environmental review. A final design has been selected and a Construction Consultant contract was awarded at RGRTA's February Board meeting. The design of a diesel emissions fluid storage and dispensing system has been completed and a contract for construction is expected to be awarded in August 2010. A contract for ten sixty-foot low-floor articulated transit buses has been signed with New Flyer, production is expected to start June 2010. RGRTA funded the majority of the cost of four forty-foot low-floor diesel buses on an order of fifty, all of which have been delivered. These purchases will result in RGRTA providing public transportation that is more efficient, safe, reliable and environmentally friendly. RGRTA will also fund the purchase of an additional eight (8) forty-foot low-floor diesel buses. These buses are expected to be delivered by December 2011.

Job Creation: This grant has resulted in the FTE of 2.75 jobs being sustained for the quarter ending March 31, 2010. These job hours are made up of design and legal work. To date, an additional 6,783 job hours have been sustained and reported in previous quarters as a result of this grant.
