    Much of Santa Maria's green efforts are centered in urban forestry and waste management. The city's website gives citizens information about the benefits of urban forestry, tips on properly disposing of waste, and how to make a difference for the environment through small changes at home.

    So many things are going on in Kenosha to support a green community: Since 1988, an advisory committee of 11 members dubbed "Keep Kenosha Beautiful" has overseen beautification, litter prevention, recycling education, and volunteer programs that help the community reach its green goals.

    Marietta is working toward becoming one of the first cities in its  area to earn Green Community Certification from the Atlanta Regional Commission. This certification is granted to local governments that invest in programs that promote sustainability, and Marietta is well on its way to earning it.

    Ames has been heading in the right direction when it comes to sustainability. City officials have started the conversion toward a greener Ames with their Sustainability Task Force, developed by the mayor and city council in order to achieve cost-effective energy and carbon emission reduction.
