FORT WORTH, Texas -- Improvements on I-35W between I-820 and I-30 have been awarded $130 million after state officials gave final approval to approximately $1.9 billion in additional transportation funds for communities across Texas.
“The improvements to I-35W are vital to the economic health and mobility of our region,” said 35W Coalition President Russell Laughlin. “We appreciate our state leaders and elected officials for their tireless work to find funding solutions that will enable this project to proceed.”
The additional funding sources originate from Texas Mobility Fund bond proceeds. Anticipated federal funding and savings on construction projects currently under way make up the $1.9 billion in allocations.
“The state will be greatly impacted by the work added because of this funding,” said Bill Meadows, a Texas Transportation Commission member from Fort Worth. “Continual work with our partners around the state brings solutions like this that provide needed improvements to the transportation infrastructure.”
