EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- Hands-on demonstrations of chipping, grinding and screening equipment were featured during Peterson Pacific Corporation’s Demo Day on September 27. More than 300 industry professions representing 27 different states and seven different countries attended the first-ever event hosted by Peterson at Brewer Farms, near Evansville.

The company has posted on its Facebook page a video demonstration of a new Peterson 4300B drum chipper making microchips from whole logs at the demo day.

Demonstrations of a wide variety of chipping, grinding, screening and handling equipment were held throughout the day. Railroad ties, pallets and packaging material, construction and demolition waste, asphalt shingles, tree-length hard and softwoods and other materials were all processed on site, while attendees were invited to ask questions and witness equipment performance first-hand. Biomass chips, clean chips for paper and pulp production and mulches of various textures and colors were all generated. Horizontal grinder, drum chipper, disc chipper, screening, and blower trailer demonstrations were all included.

In addition to Peterson, 10 other companies offered exhibits at the event.

Tom Brewer, owner of Brewer Farms called the event “both fun, and informative” and demonstrated his unique method of producing blue-colored wood mulch in a single pass. "We’ve seen an increase in demand for less traditional mulch colors recently," Brewer explained.

Peterson Marketing Manager Michael Spreadbury called the event a “terrific success” adding, “I’m simply blown away by the participation, the interaction, and the number of attendees from all over the world.”
