ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Governor Andrew Cuomo awarded nearly $1 million in funding to establish four new addiction support centers, known as youth clubhouses, in New York City. The clubhouses will provide addiction prevention and recovery services to young adults struggling with substance abuse. The clubhouses, to be located in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island, are part of the Governor's multi-pronged efforts to combat addiction in New York State.

"The impacts of addiction are devastating and we will continue to provide addiction and recovery services to all New Yorkers in need until the fight against this epidemic is won," said Governor Cuomo. "I am proud of the work we have done in providing addiction services across the state and these clubhouses are yet another tool we can utilize to help these individuals lead healthy, substance-free lives where they can reach their full potential."

"We're leading in our efforts to combat the heroin/opioid epidemic in New York State, a crisis that is impacting more than one million New Yorkers," said Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul, Co-Chair of the Heroin and Opioid Abuse Task Force. "This investment to establish new recovery clubhouses is another step to help prevent and treat addiction in New York City's outer boroughs. These clubhouses will provide quality services to help our young people who are struggling with addiction and their families to make their lives better and healthier."

Youth clubhouses provide a community-based, non-clinical setting to promote long-term recovery through skill building, recreation, education, wellness, evidence-based prevention programs, and other social activities. With this new funding, there will be 15 youth clubhouses operating across the state, including one in every region of upstate New York and every New York City borough.
